Proposition 65 Warning:
Proposition 65 Warning:
Proposition 65, officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is a California law that requires businesses to provide clear warnings to consumers when their products may expose users to chemicals known to the state to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
The law is administered by California’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), which maintains a list of over 850 such chemicals. These warnings are intended to help consumers make informed decisions about potential exposures from the products they use.
In August 2016, OEHHA adopted updated regulations—effective August 30, 2018—that revised the content and format of Proposition 65 warnings.
